Most chracteristic for this piece are its size and its paintings. The 20 illustrations are rendered in a very simple and flat way. Not using more than three or four colours and sometimes even abstracting, e.g. the representation of the cross with the two angels and scales. |

The manuscript is (incl. wooden plaques) is covered in a decorative leather binding. The blind tooled decorations of this contemporary binding consist of a cross and various geometrical borders. |

The hymnbook consists of various chapters. A copyist claims his name, Salomon Woldu, for at least part of the first two chapters (fols. 4r-28r). Besides the psalms, also hymns for the Virgin Mariam and a prayer for Zacharias are included. |

The text starts on the holy sunday of Pascha (Easter) and finishes on All Saints day, the first sunday after Pentecost. The text describes in great detail all the acts and rites performed during service and the texts to be said or sung by priests, deacons, or congregation. Probably two or three leafs missing at the end. |
